Help please. I do believe that sometime last year there was a new rule that said an all in bet less than a full raise amount if the next player call it must be called for the full amount if the raise even though the all in player didn't have the full raise amount. Example blinds are 1000 and 2000 there is 3 players and player 3 only has 3500 and says all in.. so player 1 and 2 have to pay 4000 to play and there is a side pot of 1000 for the other players cause they still have chips. Can someone please tell me where i can get a copy of that rule please. I know that I read it somewhere....
Thanks.

Hello Paul and welcome to the forum,

In your example, the call amount for the other players is 3500.

The rule you seem to refer is when the all-in bet is less than the Big Blind.

If the player have been All-in for 1500, so yes in this case the call amount would have been 2000 for the other players.

Welcome Paul,

You are looking for this rule:

TDA Rules for 2017
Rule #47 Raise Amounts

Part A:  A raise must be at least equal to the largest prior bet or raise of the current betting round.

Your scenario is also covered further in:

Illustrations Addendum for 2017 Rules
Rule 47: Raise Amounts. “The largest prior bet or raise of the current betting round”.

Example 2: NLHE, Blinds 50-100. Pre-flop A is under the gun and goes all-in for a total of 150 (an increase in the bet of 50). So, we have a 100 blind bet and an all-in wager that increases the total by 50. Which is larger? The 100 is still the “largest bet or raise of the current round”, so if B wants to re-raise he must raise at least 100 for a total of 250.

So, that rule covers the requirement for raising.  However, nothing forces the other players to raise. As Boris said, they can call the 3500.

If you have an iPhone, you can find these rules using the search engine the I built into the FREE TDA RULES app.  See the link below.

Just to clarify a bit  more on what Boris said....

Its not when an all in bet is less than the big blind. If blinds are 1000/2000 and a player bets all in on the flop for 1500, it is only 1500 for the other players to call.

If a player is all in for less while they are the big blind, then the other players must call the proper big blind amount.
Example blinds 1000/2000, big blind is all in for 1500, it is 2000 to call.
