Hello heads of poker!

What is the majority of ante system that you use or that you see used around you for the tournaments please?

Boris

Hello Guillaume,

BB ante and BB is posted first

BB ante!
It must be posted prior deal of the first card!

BB ante makes sense to me, because the big blind exists in every possible hand situation.
So there is an ante to win in every single hand.

With you (and many) on that point!

To be said: When organizing a tournament with numerous AMATEURS: I prefer the classic antes (each player paying) to keep them playing poker! I mean when you offer them the brand new Big Blind Ante or if they have no Ante > Each round they receive a free hand without paying any ante or blind > They have a HUGE TENDENCY TO FOLD! The result having everybody quickly under 10BB thus creating an awful situation with no more moves and all the field in "push mode"! Those moments when I miss the Classic Antes sooo much!

BB Ante if you are to twist my arm,  however; I really can't see the point of having any ante that is not contributed by each player in each hand.  It exists to smooth out the game and prevent the 'elastic band effect' where a point comes in the tournament where the average is a short stack and the band snaps causing multiple eliminations.  For me if you can't be bothered doing the ante right,  you shouldn't bother at all. (And yes I get it's a lot easier, speeds the game etc etc)

It is great thing.
Technically it is not half the BB, it is the SB amount. You can easily have levels like 300/500/500 and not caring about having 25 chips =)

BIG AL

what is right?  To take full ante on 5 players or at the height of sb?

on fullring table(9 or 10), the ante should be the SB amount when there 6 players or less at the table.
8-handed would be 5 or less
6-handed would be 4 or less

I'm pretty sure that Matt Savage is against reducing the size of the BB ante, and he's like the head honcho of TDA

I'm sure it will be discussed in a few weeks at the Summit.
